  • Automatic time alignment
  • Voice cleanup: noise, sibilance, level, echo
  • Vocal balance from −12 to +12 dB

What the service does

  • Aligns the tracks in time. The server compares the envelopes of the vocal and the instrumental and shifts the voice if needed, by no more than 10 seconds. If the match is weak, there is no shift, and the app tells you so.
  • Cleans up the voice with the options you tick. Noise, sibilance, a more even level and a light echo. Each option changes the voice only, and you can leave them all off.
  • Mixes the voice with the instrumental. The balance goes from −12 to +12 dB against the instrumental. The peak of the mix stays below −1 dBFS, so the sound does not distort.
  • Masters the finished track. The mix goes through the regular Magic Master mastering, and the Before mastering switch lets you compare the result with the plain mix.

How to put a vocal on an instrumental, step by step

  1. Upload the vocal: a separate file with your voice and no music.
  2. Upload the instrumental: your own file or, once signed in, an instrumental from your vocal remover results.
  3. Tick what to clean up and set the balance. Start at zero and move the slider until the voice sits right.
  4. Listen to the first 30 seconds for free. This way you check the balance and the cleanup before spending tokens.
  5. Mix the full track and download the 24-bit WAV: after signing in, for tokens.

Where to get an instrumental and how to record

  • No instrumental? Make one from the song with the vocal remover: the voice and the music come out as two files.
  • Record with headphones on. If the instrumental plays through speakers, the microphone picks it up too, and the music ends up in the mix twice.
  • Start recording together with the instrumental. The service will not fix an offset longer than 10 seconds.
  • Instrumental in the wrong key? Shift it with the key changer; the tempo stays the same.
  • Do not overdo the cleanup. If the voice sounds dull, untick the extra options and compare again.

Questions and answers

What do I need to put a vocal on an instrumental?

Two files: a recording of your voice without music and the instrumental of the same song. WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG or AIFF, each track up to 8 minutes.

Is it free?

Listening to the first 30 seconds is free, within a daily allowance. The full track is mixed after you sign in, for tokens, like mastering. If the job fails on our side, the token comes back.

The vocal and the instrumental are out of sync. What do I do?

Nothing: the server aligns the tracks itself if the offset is 10 seconds or less. If it cannot find a match, the app says so and the voice stays where it was.

Can I use an instrumental from the vocal remover?

Yes. Once you are signed in, you can pick an instrumental from your vocal remover results in the list, with no need to upload it again.

What file do I get?

A 24-bit WAV, after mastering. You can listen to the mix without mastering with the Before mastering switch.

Will it fix off-key notes or timing?

No. The service shifts the whole vocal in time, cleans it up and mixes it with the instrumental, but it does not correct notes or move individual words.
