The fastest way is to tap it: play the track, press the button above on every strong beat, and after four taps the counter shows the tempo. The longer you keep the rhythm, the more exact the number: the last eight intervals are averaged and a stray tap is thrown out.
If you need decimals or the track has a drifting tempo, upload the file — the algorithm finds the beat period by autocorrelation of the envelope in the 60–200 BPM range and does not depend on human reaction time.
A pulse can often be counted two ways: in quarters or in halves. Trap at 140 BPM also feels like 70, drum and bass at 174 like 87. The counter shows the hint "or half / double"; pick the value that is convenient for mixing or sample picking and keep it across the project.
Hip-hop and trap 80–100 (or 130–150 doubled), lo-fi 70–90, pop 100–130, house 120–128, techno 125–140, trance 132–140, dubstep 140 (feels like 70), drum and bass 170–175, rock 110–140, punk 160–200, reggae 60–90, ballads 60–80. If your number is far from the genre range, check the half or the double.

Usually within ±1–2 BPM with steady tapping: the last eight intervals are averaged and an interval twice as long or short as the rest (a missed or double tap) is discarded. For decimals upload the file.
You tapped eighths instead of quarters, or the genre is counted in half-time (trap, dubstep). Both values are rhythmically correct — take the one that is convenient to work with and keep it within the project.
