Big Room: a −8 LUFS club preset with a warm top end

Meet Big Room — a club master preset targeting −8 LUFS. That is louder
than any of our genre presets (EDM sits at −9), and it was not tuned by ear
alone: the curve was measured from a reference club master a user sent us with
the words "this is how the result should sound".

What's inside

We split the reference into bands and carried the shape over:

• Lows lead. The 60–120 Hz band sits ~7.5 dB above average: kick and sub
  carry the track. A gentle 48 Hz subharmonic adds density without mud.
• Mids tucked, not scooped. Upper mids and presence are eased back — that
  is what makes the "big" club sound where the vocal sits inside the mix
  instead of on top of it.
• Warm top. The tilt towards 8–16 kHz is about −9 dB: none of the digital
  fizz that hurts on a large PA.
• Denser compression (×1.25 over the genre baseline) plus 35% parallel
  compression — punch stays, tails don't collapse.

Verified against the reference: mean curve deviation of 1.26 dB across nine
bands, true peak at −1.0 dBTP, loudness within 0.2 LU of target.

Who it's for

Big room, festival house, techno — anything played on a big system. If the
track goes to streaming, remember platforms will turn a −8 master down to
their −14: for the Spotify version pick EDM (−9) or Pop (−12), and keep
Big Room for club sets, DJ pools and SoundCloud.
