What's new after 3.17: A/B, speed, advice

2026-11-01 ·

Magic Master 3.17 went live on 24 October. Since then we have made a few more changes, and you may have already noticed some of them. The main one: you can now compare your track with the result in every tool, and processing is faster.

Before and after, in every tool

The result of mastering, vocal removal and stem splitting opens with a before/after player. Switch between the sources with the buttons or the keys 1 and 2, press space to pause and use the arrow keys to seek. Switching does not stop the music.

Loudness is matched by default: the louder version is turned down to the quieter one. That way you hear the difference in the sound, not in the volume. The guide on how to compare a track before and after mastering explains how to use it.

Faster mastering

The processing core is about 21% faster. In a benchmark over 20 combinations of reference tracks and styles, the total time dropped from 141 to 112 seconds. The sound did not change: the output matched bit for bit in all 20 checks.

The benchmark measures the processing itself, not the whole path from upload to the finished file. On your track the difference depends on the style and the length.

A loud track stays loud

If a track is already loud and you have not set a loudness target yourself, mastering no longer turns it down below −10 LUFS. Before, such a track could be sent noticeably quieter and lost its punch. A target you choose yourself stays as you set it.

Uploads from iPhone

We fixed two faults. A file that did not read properly on the phone no longer goes to the server empty and no longer returns the error 422 "file: Field required". Files larger than 200 MB no longer break the upload either.

The assistant knows every tool

The AI assistant answers from a knowledge base of all the tools on the site and suggests the right tool for your task. Off-topic questions are called out as such. After the latest changes it passed an internal exam: 31 questions out of 31.

Guides on instrumentals and karaoke

New guides on making an instrumental and removing vocals, in Russian and English: how to make an instrumental from a song online and how to remove vocals from a song for karaoke.

Everything above already works in the app. Upload a track and check it yourself: open Magic Master.

Questions and answers

How do I compare my track before and after mastering?

Open the result and turn on the before/after player. Keep Match loudness on: the player turns down the louder version, so you hear the difference in the sound, not in the volume.

How much faster is mastering now?

In a benchmark on reference tracks, the processing core is about 21% faster, and the output is bit-identical. On your file the gain depends on the style and the length of the track.

What changes for a track that is already loud?

If the track is already loud and you have not set a loudness target yourself, mastering no longer turns it down below −10 LUFS. A target you choose yourself is not changed by this rule.
