How to Make an Instrumental From a Song Online
To make an instrumental from a song online, open the stem splitter on Magic Master, upload the track and choose the Instrumental mode. The server separates the vocal from everything else and gives you two files. You do not install or configure anything.
Which mode to choose
- Instrumental gives you two files: the vocal and the instrumental. It is for practice, karaoke and learning a part. It works without signing in.
- 4 stems gives you vocals, drums, bass and the rest. It needs a free account. Choose it if you want a backing track without drums or without bass, not only without the voice.
Step by step
- Open the stem splitter in the app.
- Upload the track. WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG and AIFF files are accepted, up to 200 MB.
- Choose the Instrumental mode.
- Start the separation. A track of up to 7 minutes usually takes a few minutes. If the server is busy, the queue position is shown. You do not need to keep the page open: the result stays available for later.
- Listen to the vocal and the instrumental separately, then download both.
The link to the result works for 24 hours. Download the files before then.
What is free and what it costs
- Without signing in: one instrumental per day.
- With a free account: one more per day. This quota is shared with the four-stem mode.
- Beyond the quota: 1 token. A pack of one token costs 35 ₽, and bigger packs are cheaper per token. See the pricing page. The token is charged only after the separation succeeds. If the job fails through our fault, the token comes back.
Limits
- Tracks up to 7 minutes long.
- Files up to 200 MB.
- Formats: WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG, AIFF.
- A dense mix with a heavy wall of sound and strong compression leaves more vocal in the instrumental.
How to get a cleaner result
- Source. Upload the full stereo mix in the best quality you have. WAV or FLAC gives a cleaner result than MP3. A phone recording, or a file that was re-encoded several times, adds more noise.
- Artifacts. If the instrumental has a bubbling or metallic sound, these are separation artifacts. The article Removing AI-Separation Artifacts explains what they are and how the tool reduces them.
- Leftover voice. A neural separation cannot remove the voice completely. If leftovers bother you, compare the instrumental with the original on headphones and on speakers. Decide by the part where the voice is loudest whether the track fits your task.
What to do next
- Want to sing over the instrumental? The vocal on instrumental tool mixes your vocal with the instrumental and masters the result. Read how to put a vocal on an instrumental online for the steps.
- Need the instrumental in another key? The key changer moves a track or an instrumental by −6 to +6 semitones. The tempo stays the same.

Can you use an instrumental from someone else's song?
An instrumental taken from another artist's song is for personal use: practice, learning a part, karaoke at home. Publishing a recording with that instrumental on streaming services, in music videos or in short videos needs permission from the rights holder. The rights to the song stay with its authors, and the person who publishes is responsible for the publication.
Questions and answers
How many instrumentals can I make for free?
Without signing in, one instrumental per day. With a free account, one more per day. This quota is shared with the four-stem mode. Beyond the quota one token is charged, and only after the separation succeeds.
Why is some voice left in the instrumental?
The separation estimates the vocal from the finished mix. Quiet vocal parts and backing vocals can stay in the instrumental. This is a limit of the method, not an upload error. Compare the instrumental with the original by ear: if the voice is faint, the track works for practice.
Can I publish a recording made with someone else's instrumental?
For personal use, such as practice, learning a part or karaoke at home, yes. Publishing a recording on streaming services, in music videos or in short videos needs permission from the rights holder. The person who publishes carries that responsibility.
